Employer Listing & Removal Policy
Effective July 27, 2026
This page explains, plainly, where the listings on BoatTechJobs.com come from, how we gather them, and exactly how an employer gets a listing corrected or taken down. It is written for employers. Clement Sarion, d/b/a BoatTechJobs operates the Site.
1. Where listings come from
Every listing on the Site arrives one of two ways:
- Submitted. Employers can post listings directly.
- Aggregated. We read the employer’s own public careers page and publish a short factual summary of an open role.
Aggregated listings are labelled as such and always link to the employer’s own posting.
2. What we publish, and what we do not
For an aggregated listing we publish structured facts — job title, employer, city and state, employment type, the date we first saw it — plus a summary capped at 40 words. We do not republish the employer’s full advertisement. The complete description stays on the employer’s site, and our Apply button sends the candidate there.
We do not host applications and we do not collect résumés on an employer’s behalf unless that employer has explicitly opted in.
3. How we gather listings
Today this is done by hand. A person opens the employer’s own public careers page, reads it, and writes the short summary described above. No automated crawler is currently running against employer sites.
We intend to automate this. When we do, the following bind us, and there is no override:
- Our crawler identifies itself. Its user-agent string contains
BoatTechJobsBotand a link back to this page. - It obeys
robots.txt. If your robots file disallows us, we do not fetch the page. There is no override. - It requests employers’ own public careers pages only — never anything behind a login, a paywall, or an application form.
- It rate-limits itself and crawls infrequently.
- It re-checks listings and removes ones that have disappeared from the source.
The same limits already govern the hand-gathering: we read employers’ own public pages only, and we do not publish from a source whose robots file tells us to stay out.
If you would rather we did not read your careers page at all, tell us through the form and we will exclude your domain — that exclusion covers hand-gathered listings now and automated ones later.
4. Removal — the commitment
Any employer may have any listing about their business removed, for any reason or no reason. We do not argue, we do not require justification, and we do not ask you to prove the listing is wrong.
We action verified removal requests within 5 business days of receipt.
A removal is permanent. When you ask us to remove a listing we record the source as excluded so it is not added back — by hand today, and by an automated suppression list once crawling begins.
5. What you can ask for
- Remove one specific listing.
- Remove every listing for your business.
- Stop crawling your domain entirely, permanently.
- Correct a detail — wrong location, wrong title, filled role, wrong company.
6. How to ask
Use the removal request form. It asks for the listing URL or your company name, what you want done, and a way to reach you. Requests submitted through the form arrive complete, which is why we ask you to use it rather than email.
We may ask one question to confirm you are connected to the business named. That is the only verification step.
7. Accuracy
We aggregate from public sources and those sources go stale. A listing here may be filled, expired, or out of date. If you spot one, tell us; corrections are handled on the same 5-business-day basis.
8. Standard listings are free
We do not charge to remove a listing, and we do not charge to correct one. Paid Featured placement is entirely optional and is described in our Terms of Service.
